St. Fidelis of Sigmaringen (1577–1622) was a German Capuchin friar and priest, known as a "poor man's lawyer" before becoming a key Counter-Reformation figure. Martyred on April 24, 1622, in Switzerland by Calvinist opponents, he was canonized in 1746 and is the patron saint of lawyers and the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples
