Devotion to the Passion of Jesus and particularly His Holy Face is one of the oldest devotions in Christian tradition. Practiced by St. Augustine, St. Bernard of Clairvaux, St. Gertrude, St. Mectilde,St. Edmund, St. Bonaventure, St. Therese of Liseaux. Beginning in 1844, Our Lord appeared to Sr. Mary of St. Peter and expressed His desire that the whole world know and practice this devotion in reparation for blasphemy.
