Our choice of color, please. Your chaplet may be a different color than the one pictured.
The Chaplet of the Holy Face of Jesus honors the 5 wounds of Christ and asks God for the triumph of the Church and the defeat of her enemies. It is also a chaplet of reparation for the blasphemies, outrages, and hatred shown toward Christ and the Church. Certainly, this chaplet is a powerful prayer for these times.
Saint Athanasius relates that the devils most feared, out of all Scripture, the first verse of Psalm 67: "Let God arise and let His enemies be scattered. Let those who hate Him flee before His face." The devils told the saint that, upon hearing this verse, they would flee.
Sister Marie de Saint Pierre) (1816–1848), a Discalced Carmelite nun who lived in Tours, France, was inspired by the Lord to begin the devotion to the Holy Face of Jesus, an approved devotion. The Golden Arrow Prayer is another of her inspirations and is available on this link. Devotion to the Holy Face of Jesus explains this devotion on this link. The Litany of the Holy Face of Jesus is on this link.
Sister Marie wrote:
“Our Lord inspired me at this time to compose certain prayers of reparation in the form of a Chaplet, or a small rosary. This Chaplet is made up of thirty-three small beads, on which is recited thirty-three times the prayer, ‘Arise, O Lord, and let Thy enemies be scattered, and let them that hate Thee flee before Thy Face!’ and also six large beads on which our recited the ejaculation, ‘My Jesus, mercy,’ followed by the doxology, ‘Glory be to the Father, etc.’
One day after Holy Mass our Lord appeared to me presenting me with a similar Chaplet which I saw was made of precious stones strung on a fine gold chain. Deeming myself quite unworthy of possessing such a treasure, I begged the Blessed Virgin to keep this beautiful rosary for me by placing it in her Immaculate Heart, and I also begged our Lord to attach indulgences to the recitation of this Chaplet” –(From the book The Golden Arrow)
HOW TO PRAY THE CHAPLET
On the Crucifix – The Sign of the Cross
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
O God, come to my aid. O Lord, make haste to help me.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
On each of the six larger beads (precedes each decade of six beads):
“My Jesus, mercy!” and one “Glory Be..”
On the thirty-three small beads (one for each year of Our Lord's life on earth):
“Arise, O Lord, and let Your enemies be scattered, and let all who hate You flee before Your Face!”
The Meditations are as follows:
First set of 6 beads: In honor of the sense of touch of our Lord. Think about the scourging at the pillar, the carrying of the cross, the crucifixion and nailing and how the hands that Christ used to bring healing and comfort through His touch are now pierced for our sins.
Second: In honor of the sense of hearing of our Lord. Think of how He heard the former adulation of the crowd changed to mockery and abuse during His Passion.
Third: In honor of the sense of sight of our Lord. Reflect on how Christ's eyes looked with compassion on sinners, the poor, the hurting, look, from the cross, with love and forgiveness on those who are crucifying and abusing Him.
Fourth: In honor of the sense of smell of our Lord. Think of how our Lord created beautiful fragrances to please humanity and how, in His Passion, His sense of smell was accosted with the smells of blood, sweat, and death.
Fifth: In honor of the sense of taste of our Lord. Reflect on how our Lord created delectable flavors for our foods and how, on the cross, He was given sour wine to drink, which mingled with the taste in His mouth of His own blood.
Final 3 beads: In honor of our Lord's public life. Think about the many miracles Christ performed and the teachings He gave and how the cross would lead into the greatest miracle of the Resurrection and His most profound teaching on life after death.
Then repeat seven times, in honor of the 7 words of Jesus from the Cross:
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
Gloria Patri, et Filio, et Spiritui Sancto. Sicut erat in principio, et nunc, et semper, et in saecula saeculorum. Amen.
On the medal at the end pray:
“O God, our Protector, look down upon us and cast Your eyes upon the Face of Your Christ!”
Some additional prayers that are recommended to be said on the six large beads following the praying of the chaplet (from the revelations of Sister Marie de Saint Pierre in the Golden Arrow book:
1) May God arise and let His enemies be scattered and let those who hate Him flee before His Face!
2) May the thrice Holy Name of God overthrow all their plans!
3) May the Holy Name of the Living God split them up by disagreements!
4) May the terrible Name of the God of Eternity stamp out all their godlessness!
5) Lord, I do not desire the death of the sinner, but that he be converted and live. “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.”
6) The “Golden Arrow” prayer (on the Crucifix):
May the most Holy, most Sacred, most Adorable, Most Incomprehensible and Ineffable Name of God Be always Praised, Blessed, Loved, Adored and Glorified, In Heaven, on Earth and under the Earth, By all the Creatures of God, And by the Sacred Heart of Our Lord Jesus Christ, In the most Holy Sacrament of the Altar. Amen.
