St. Felix of Cantalice (1515–1587) was a 16th-century Italian Capuchin friar renowned for his piety, humility, and 42-year service as a “beggar for Christ” in Rome. He was the first Capuchin to be canonized (1712) and is celebrated on May 18 for his joyous devotion to God and the poor, often greeting people with “Deo Gratias”. [1, 2, 3]
