Most Glorious God and Father of all, we thank you for the life of your servant, St. Benedict the Moor. By his example of humility and cheerfulness, may we too become radiant sources of grace to all those we meet. Despite St. Benedict's lack of education, his family heritage of slavery and his utter poverty, you chose him to be counted among the elect of Heaven; proving that your power is made perfect in our weakness. May we learn by his example, that nothing we acquire, possess or achieve matters in this life unless you are the center of our every accomplishment. By your Holy Spirit and in imitation of your Son, Jesus, may we learn to detach ourselves from the attractions of this world and seek only to be abandoned to your holy will. Amen.
