Did you ever wonder how we calculate shipping?

Shipping costs include not only the postage on the order but also the cost of the mailing envelope and packing material.

With postal rates frequently changing, it would be extremely difficult for us to calculate shipping item by item especially since we have over 1500 items on line. So we have calculated shipping by weight. Our new shipping rates go ounce by ounce and include the cost of the packaging. 

Each order automatically incurs a $1 handling fee whether you order 1 item or 100 items. So it makes sense to you to order all your items at once as the handling fee is $1 per order, not $1 per item.

Did you know that the United States Postal Service charges more for lower weights of thicker packaging than for thinner envelopes of the same weight? Unfortunately our shipping system has no way to differentiate between a thin prayer card that weighs 0.1 ounce and a thicker lapel pin that weighs 0.1 ounce. Therefore, our shipping for all 0.1 ounce items is calculated for the thicker items which ship at the higher rate. 

So what should you do if you want to order thinner items? Order more of them and get more for your money! Perhaps you can distribute those prayer cards through church or prayer groups. Or enclose them in postal mail. 

Here is a tip. Most people don't know that the United States Postal Service charges the same amount of postage for thicker items from 0.1 to 3.0 ounces. Therefore, if you order one prayer card or one lapel pin you will pay about the same postage as if you ordered 10 prayer cards or 10 lapel pins. So it makes sense to have your postage go farther and order more items at once. 

In addition, as the weight of the order increases, the postage decreases per ounce. Again it is wiser to order all your items at once in a large order as you will save on the shipping.
