One prayer that can be said before the Pardon Crucifix is "Our Father who art in Heaven, forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us". Another prayer that can be said is "I beg the Blessed Virgin Mary to pray to the Lord our God for me".
The Pardon Crucifix has a prayer of pardon on the back of the cross, which reads "Father, forgive them". The back of the cross also has an image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the words "Behold this Heart which has so loved men". The front of the cross has the words "Jesus Nazarenus Rex Judaeorum," which translates to "Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews".
Pope Pius X granted indulgences to the Pardon Crucifix, which can be earned by carrying the crucifix, kissing it, or saying certain prayers before it.
